Why Ski Chatel

Chatel sits in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, one of the largest inter-linked ski areas in the world.

The setting is idyllic: the village nestles on the border between France and Switzerland, in one of the most beautiful Alpine valleys. Chatel has a very good snow record but also has more than its fair share of sunshine!

Chatel is very much more than a resort, it is a community. You will soon appreciate the difference.

This is a living village and that is one of the main reasons we love it here so much. The local people are friendly and because the restaurants, shops and bars cater for locals as well as visitors, the prices are far lower than many other resorts. Everything is within walking distance and you will quickly feel at home.

There is plenty to do when you are not skiing, with two cinemas, a 10 pin bowling alley, an open air ice-skating rink, an open air Salto trampoline, an all year bob luge and over 25 bars and restaurants to choose from!

Heli-Ski ?

Fancy Heli-skiing? This would need to be booked in advance. Ideal months are March/April. We do this from Switzerland or Italy on a day trip basis and is available to good skiers. Obviously all off piste. Not cheap, from around £200 pp but well worth it. Also ski touring.. Please contact us..

SKI GUIDING

Is there anything more frustrating than discovering a superb run the day before you travel home?

Our free ski guiding programme (for intermediates and above) will ensure this never happens to you on a holiday with Steve Hutchinson Adventures

We have huge experience of skiing in Chatel and the Portes du SoleiI. We can lead you to the best snow conditions, the least crowded slopes and the most beautiful views. We usually run two groups each day, each travelling at their own speed and tackling different pistes. Wherever possible we all meet for elevenses & lunch.

Generally the first day is spent exploring our local pistes in and around Chatel. We then offer another three days guiding exploring the Portes du Soleil and skiing further a field. It is designed for all, not a race or intimidating. Nearly all customers who have tried this say they would always use this service again.

Best of all this service is completely free.
