There have never been so many flights
into Geneva and many of them are with 'no-frills' airlines.
There is also much more choice from UK
regional airports this season.
Geneva is only around one and a
half hours away from Chatel, which makes flying a popular option.
As long as your arrival and
departure are between the hours of 7am and 8pm, then your transfers are
included with no additional charge. Please be aware many other companies
charge separately for this or leave you hanging around the airport
waiting for a 52 seater that goes to several resorts on the way.
Out of these hours there may be an
additional charge of £25 per person, each way. Do bear this in mind when
comparing fares and choosing your flights.
Charter flights operate from most
UK airports and are often better value than the no-frills airlines. You
can check all these flights and get a full costing on the Direct Line
Holidays website.
Flybe now fly to Geneva on
Saturdays from Newquay and Exeter plus other departure points
Easyjet has regular
flights to Geneva from many regional airports
MyTravel Lite will
go from Birmingham this season.
Bmi Baby operates
from East Midlands.
Buzz fly to Geneva
from Stanstead.
Self Drive
Even with today’s popular budget airlines, if you have a full complement
of passengers, this can still be the cheapest way to travel.
You will have no restriction on
luggage and you are free to take home those favourite goodies you have
tried throughout your stay!
Roads have been improved considerably over the past few years and unlike
the UK it is not usually nose to tail all the way!
You should be able to travel from
Calais to Chatel in around 8 to 10 hours, if you use the Auto routes.
Remember that French Auto routes
are toll roads, depending upon which route you take this will cost in
the region of 70€ for a private car.
Although the roads to resorts are usually kept clear, it is advisable to
carry snow chains.
We also recommend having a practice
fitting at home just in case you do encounter the snow, when it is
usually cold and dark too!
